The Coptic calendar is the oldest calendar known in history, although its date of origin is still a mystery. The ancient Egyptians used this calendar for agricultural purposes and to this day, farmers still use it. The year is divided into 3 seasons; each season is made up of four months: the season of the flood, the season of vegetation and the season for harvesting. There’s a short month of 6 days at the end of each year that is reserved for feasts after the harvest.
